تعددت و تنوعت المدرسة التشكيلية و كثرت المذاهب و الأشكال الفنية و التشكيلية في أوروبا بعد انقضاء و نهاية فترة الفن المسيحي الذي انتشر و تعدد في القرون و العصور و الأزمنة الوسطى فسطع و ظهر فن النهضة العظيم في أوائل القرن الخامس عشر وصاحب ذلك إعتزاز و تفاخر الفنان بفرديته و موهبته بدلا من إن يكون ذائبا في مجتمع كبير ، إلا إن التغيرات و الأحداث الدينية والسياسية والفكرية التي ظهرت في المدرسة التشكيلية خدمة الطبقة عام 1600 ميلادية كان لها دور في ظهور فن الباروك الذي كان في خدمة الطبقة البرجوازية وطراز الروكوكو الذي ارتبط بالعائلات و الأسر الحاكمة، على أن طراز الروكوكو اختفي من فرنسا بعد قيام و اندلاع الثورة الفرنسية عام 1789 ميلادية وظهر بها طراز فني متميز في المدرسة التشكيلية استمد من مقوماته الفنون الإغريقية الرومانية بإسم الكلاسيكية العائدة. وتوالت و تتابعت الحركات الفنية و التشكيلية في الغرب منذ مطلع القرن التاسع عشر فظهرت الرومانتية والطبيعية والواقعية.....ولأول مرة في تاريخ الفنون نرى و نجد إن المدرسة التشكيلية تخضع لتأثير العلم والاكتشافات الجديدة و الحديثة حيث بدأ العلماء يبحثون في علاقة الضوء بالألوان كما اخترعت آلة التصوير الشمسي وساهمت هذه الأحداث في ازدهار و ابراز المذهب التأثيري..... وما إن نصل إلى القرن العشرين حتى نقابل و نشاهد و نجد مذاهب جديدة في المدرسة التشكيلية من أبرزها و أهمها المذاهب التكعيبية والوحشية والمستقبلية.....وعندما اندلعت الحرب العالمية الأولى أثرت الفوضى التي عمت الدول و البلاد في المجتمعات الإنسانية وانفعلت طائفة من الفنانين التشكيلين تبحث عن الشهرة بالأهوال والمآسي فضربوا بالقيم الجمالية التي ورثها الفنانون عن أجدادهم عرض الحائط وأخرجوا أعمالا شاذة و غريبة تحارب الفن عرفت بإسم - الدادا - واختتمت هذه الحركات المتعددة بحركتي السريالية والتجريدية و التشكيلية وتهدف و تسعى و تنشد الأولى إلى الغوص و التعمق و البحث في المدرسة التشكيلية و فن عدم الاحساس و اللاشعور على حين تسعى و تهدف و تنشد الثانية إلى الغوص و التعمق و البحث في فن و جمال الأشكال اللامعقولة و اللاموضوعية والهندسية.
