يقدم تطبيق "سيرة عمر" بن الخطاب مرجعا شاملا وموثقا لإحدى أروع الحقب في تاريخ الإسلام، عندما توسعت الدولة الإسلامية بعد قليل من وفاة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، لينضوي تحتها العالم العربي كله وتقف على أعتاب الهند والصين شرقا وأبواب أوربا شمالا وتتوغل في الشمال الإفريقي تحت قيادة أمير المؤمنين عمر بن الخطاب الذي قدم مثالا فذا لحاكم يحاسب نفسه على دابة عثرت في العراق، ولا ينام حتى يطمئن على رعيته، ويقتص للضعيف من القوي، فصارت عدالته مضرب المثل يوم قالوا "عدلت فأمنت فنمت يا عمر".. وهو أيضا حاكم لا يمنعه اعتزازه الشديد بدينه وثقافته من الانفتاح على الحضارات الأخرى آخذا بأحسن ما لديها، فشهدت الدولة الإسلامية في عهده أوج ازدهارها.
هذا التطبيق من ام بي سي يقدم في إطار مشروع حضاري لتعريف العالم بما قدمه الإسلام والمسلمون للحضارة البشرية من إنجازات وقيم عالية، حيث تم إنتاج مسلسل "عمر" الذي يعد الإنتاج الأضخم في تاريخ التلفزيونات العربية للتعريف بهذه الحقبة بعدة لغات، ويأتي التطبيق ليستكمل هذه المبادرة وليقدم خدمة مميزة لمستخدمي أجهزة الجوال والكمبيوتر اللوحي.
