فنان سعودي يُطلق عليه لقب “فنان العرب”، اسمه بالكامل “محمد عبده عثمان مرزوق آل دهل العسيري”، ولد عام 1948م في قرية الدرب الواقعة جنوب المملكة العربية السعودية.ذاق “محمد عبده” مرارة اليتم صغيراً حيث رحل عنه والده وهو في السادسة من عمره، ثم خاض رحلة الفقر حتى إنه عاش فترة هو وشقيقه في رباط خيري بمنحة من الملك “فيصل بن عبد العزيز”.تخرج “محمد عبده” من المعهد الصناعي عام 1963م وتخصص في صناعة السفن في محاوله لتحقيق حلمه القديم بأن يصبح بحاراً مثل والده، إلا أن ولعه بالفن والغناء أخذه إلى بحر النغم ليحقق نجاحات متوالية في الفن ويحصل على العديد من الجوائز الفنية.تزوج الفنان “محمد عبده” لمدة 26 عاماً أنجب خلالها سبعة أبناء هم “نوره - ود - هيفاء - ريم - عبد الرحمن - بدر - دلال”، ولكن انتهى ذلك الزواج بالانفصال ليتزوج مرة أخرى عقب 11 عاماً من الانفصال بفتاة فرنسية من أصول جزائرية.بدأ فنان العرب “محمد عبده” رحلته الفنية مبكراً وهو لا يزال طالباً في المعهد الصناعي، بعد أن اكتشفه “عباس فائق غزاوي” عندما غنى في البرنامج الإذاعي “بابا عباس” عام 1960م، ثم سافر إلى بيروت وهناك تعرف على الملحن السوري “محمد محسن” الذي قدمه في أغنية “خاصمت عيني من سنين” ليغني محمد عبده لأول مرة أغنية خاصة به بعد أن غنى الكثير من أغاني من سبقوه.عقب عوده “محمد عبده” إلى أرض الوطن اقتحم عالم الغناء بقوة حيث تعرف على العديد من الشعراء والملحنين أمثال “إبراهيم خفاجي - طارق عبد الحكيم - ناصر بن جريد”، وقدم الكثير من الأغنيات المتميزة منها أغنية “سكة التايهين” عام 1966م، إلا أن شعوره بالحاجة إلى التلحين لنفسه جعله يقوم بدراسة الموسيقى التي أصقلت موهبته.كانت أول أغنية من تلحينه هي “خلاص ضاعت أمانينا.. مدام الحلو ناسينا” التي قدمها على العود والإيقاع بدون أي توزيع موسيقي، وكان نجاح هذا اللحن تشجيعاً له على خوض التلحين الذاتي خاصة بعد أن جاء نجاحه الأول من خلال ألحانه، ليشارك بعد ذلك في الكثير من الحفلات والمهرجانات العربية.إلا أنه توقف عن الغناء في الحفلات لمدة ثمان سنوات، كما توقف عن إصدار الألبومات الجديدة، ولكن أزمة الخليج أجبرته على الرجوع مرة أخرى من خلال شريط بعنوان “هل التوحيد”، تاركاً بذلك الأغاني العاطفية ليتجه إلى الأغاني الوطنية مع الامتناع عن الغناء في الحفلات، وعدم تقديم الجديد سوى الخاص بالأغاني الشعبية التي قام بالتجهيز لها قبل فترة التوقف الذي استمر منذ عام 1989م إلى 1997م.من أبرز الألبومات التي قدمها الفنان “محمد عبده” :”وهم” و”العقد” و”يا مرحبا يا معنّى” و”أرفض المسافة” و”أنشودة المطر” و”حبيبتي” و”يا السعودي يا بطل” و”وين أحب الليلة” و”دعاني الشوق” و”جديد سعود بن عبد الله” و”مجموعة إنسان” و”يماني حجاز” و”يماني خليجي” و”بنت النور” و”مذهله” و”فوق هام السحب” و”كوكب الأرض” و”عيون الليل” و”يا ناعس الجفن” و”أفراح العروس” و”ارفع ستار الخجل” و”الرمش الطويل” و”ملحمة أسود الجزيرة” و”مساء الخير” و”لنا الله”.نال الفنان السعودي خلال مشواره الفني العديد من الجوائز و الأوسمة حيث حصل علي وسام وميدالية الاستحقاق من الدرجة الثانية لخادم الحرمين الشريفين، ووسام بورقيبة للثقافة من الدرجة الثانية عام 1982م، كما أطلق عليه الرئيس التونسي “الحبيب بورقيبة” لقب “فنان العرب”.
