เสียงนกปรอดสวน

นกปรอด (อังกฤษ: Bulbul) เป็นวงศ์ของนกจับคอนขนาดเล็กวงศ์หนึ่ง จัดอยู่ในกลุ่มนกร้องเพลง ใช้ชื่อวงศ์ว่า Pycnonotidae

เป็นนกขนาดเล็ก มีสีสันต่าง ๆ กันไปตามแต่ละชนิด และสกุล เป็นนกที่ร้องได้เพราะมาก กินผลไม้และแมลงเป็นอาหาร พบได้ในหลายภูมิประเทศ ตั้งแต่ภูเขาสูงจากระดับน้ำทะเลเป็นพัน ๆ เมตร จนถึงที่ราบลุ่ม หรือในชุมชนเมืองและตามสวนสาธารณะหรือสวนหลังบ้าน

เหตุที่ได้ชื่อว่า "ปรอด" นั้นมาจากเสียงร้อง ที่มักเป็นเสียง "กรอด-กรอด" ซึ่งบางครั้งอาจเรียกเพี้ยนเป็น "นกกรอด", "นกกระหรอด" หรือ "นกกะหรอด" ก็ได้ ขณะในชื่อภาษาอังกฤษที่ว่า "ฺBulbul" นั้นมาจากคำว่า بلبل (bolbol) ในภาษาเปอร์เซีย และคำว่า بُلْبُل ในภาษาอาหรับ หมายถึง "นกไนติ้งเกล"

ซึ่งทั่วโลกมี 137 ชนิด ใน 21 สกุล (ดูในตาราง ขณะที่บางสกุลอาจจะซ้ำซ้อนกับอีกสกุล) ในประเทศไทย พบอยู่ 36 ชนิด 8 สกุล
