日本ではもう当たり前のようにクリスマスは年中行事として定着し、行事も盛大に行われるようになってます。
商業施設では早いところは11月上旬からクリスマスツリーが飾られ、クリスマスセール等が行われてます。
店内にはクリスマスソングが流れ、洋菓子店ではクリスマスケーキが販売される。街中では街路樹に豆電球（蠑年は省エネに配慮してLED照明）が飾り付けられる（イルミネーション）。
庭のある家庭では、庭木などに電飾を施すこともあり、商業施設などの場合、12月24日のクリスマス・イヴにイベントなどを開くことがあります。
また、ジングルベルなどのクリスマスソングは多くの人に親しまれています。
