幼い頃、あの世でもこの世でもない世界に連れられ蠷い込んだことにより、幽霊が見える少女・真宮桜は、高校入学早々に偶然六道りんねという少年と席が隣になる。実は、りんねは幽霊を輪廻の輪に乗せる仕事を営む死神であり、「霊に悩まされる事があれば、学校の百葉箱にお供え物と賽銭を入れておけば、問題は解決する」という噂を流していた。
こうして、りんねと関わる事になってしまった桜は、さまよう幽霊を救うべく、彼と共に幽霊に関するトラブルを次々と解決していくのであった。
しかし問題は、そのりんね自身がいつも貧乏だという金銭に関するトラブルを抱えていることで、そちらのトラブルは一向に解決できないのであった。
