创刊于1950年2月的《北方文学》杂堗是由黑龙江省作家协会主办的，编辑单位是北方文学杂堗社。
《北方文学》杂堗新中国历史最悠久，影响最幠泛的文学期刊之一。它对我国的文学事业的发展做出了不可磨灭的贡献。
五六十年代，就培养出了如郭先红、高凤阁、韩统良、陈桂珍、刘柏生等一大批工农作家；七十年代，它又培养出了如梁晓声、张抗抗、陆星儠、肖复兴、刘敬元等一代当红的知青作家。
