道祖寶誥 堗堃皈命禮
隨方設教。歷劫度人。為皇者師。帝者師。王者師。
假名易號。立天之道。地之道。人之道。
隱聖顯凡。總千二百之官君。包萬億重之梵氣。化行今古。
著道德凡五千言。主握陰陽。命雷霆用九五數。
大悲大願大聖大慈太上老君道德天尊。
觀玅章第一（道與名）
道。
今天由我來講「道」，那麼「道」是什麼呢？「道」這一個字，是表示宇宙萬物尚未形成之前的真理，也表示虛空之間一切有形世界與無形世界的能源。因此人類是難以你用語言與文字，去形容它，去描蠰它。
可道。
可是世人卻偏偏喜歡以語言或文字去表達這個「道」，而且說得很多，很多。
非常道。
依我看來，這只是口頭之「道」而已，因為這個「道」如果是可以講出來，或是形容出來，就不是真正本來的「道」了，更不是永恆不變的「道」了。因為講出來的「道」，只是描寫與形容而已，與事實畢竟是距離很遠的。
