Mobile applications (apps) provide point-of-care access to medical information from the pocket to the patient. With 60% of physicians owning an Apple device, such as the iPhone or iPad, the Abidi Pharmaceuticals Company created "Abidi Infectious" in 2015 within the Medical category. This is subdivided into the following app categories: Reference, Medical Education, Patient Monitoring, Nursing, Imaging, Patient Education, and Personal Care. This appears to be a good start; however, many infectious diseases (ID) apps are missing. For example, the Sanford Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy app is not among the list.
