Introduction

Alert.me is a smart phone utility application with the target of mitigating mobile phone theft
and provide a platform for tracking phone remotely anytime, anywhere from any phone using
SMS.

Problem Statement

Statistically, it has been estimated that about 90% of smart phones missing were stolen either
by pick pocket or removing from electric outlet while charging (having the highest proportion),
causing the user to lose their daring device and more importantly their data if not back up on
cloud. With this problem and some other threat that arises due to loss of mobile phone, comes
“Alertme” a lasting solution that is well engineered, with simple and interactive UI for easy
accessibility and added security layer.

Aim and Objective

Our driving goal is to provide a platform for easy tracking of device and mitigate rate of mobile
theft.
 To provide a seamless internet tracking
 Activate phone lock remotely via SMS
 To provide security against mobile theft while charging.
 To alert the user whenever the phone stops charging.
 Getting the exact location of where the device is accessed with invalid password.
 Obstructing volume and power control while the alarm in on.

How it Works

 You start by downloading and installing the app.
 Register your profile on the app.
 Set your confidant details to receive SMS notification of where your phone is intruded.
 Create your four-digit security PIN that will be used in unlocking the phone.
 Setup other things according to your preference.
 All set, the app prompt lock screen each time you reboot your phone and request for
PIN
 The app prompt the lock screen and start blowing alarm when disconnected from
power.
 The app sends SMS with current location to your confidant contact if wrong PIN is
entered 3 times
 In the case of a lost phone or whereby the attacker got past the alarm phase whereby
the battery is removed and never inserted, the following occurs:
 If he boots the phone at a later time, alarm continues.
 If he removes the sim, a message containing the coordinates of the phone
location would be sent to the phone of trusted partner registered at signup.
 The application restricts the device Volume and power control while the alarm is
blowing to obstruct the thief from reducing the volume or shutting the device off and
the alarm resume blowing if the phone battery is removed and restarted and send SMS
notification.
 The advance feature of the app let you:
 Track your phone remotely by send SMS to the phone
 Remotely activate the lock screen with SMS command
 Activate the lock screen with alarm
 Activate the lock screen and send location back to the sender phone
 Activate the lock screen and repeat sending location to sender phone every 5
minutes
