Altieri4Judge APPLICATION description
My name is Michael Altieri. I am a lifelong resident of the community. I was born and raised in Norristown Borough. I am a graduate of Norristown Area High School and have been a resident of West
Norriton Township for the past twenty years. I currently reside with my wife of ten years and have two children.
I have been employed in Law Enforcement for the past thirty years, as a teenager I began my career as a dispatcher at Norristown Police Department. I put myself through the Police Academy, was hired as a patrolman in West Conshohocken and quickly worked my way through the ranks from Patrolman to a Montgomery County Detective, assigned to the Narcotics Unit. I was later assigned as the Montgomery County Drug Task Force Coordinator, where I supervised over 450 local Police Officers combating violent drug offenders throughout the county. As a result of my supervision, thousands of drug dealers were arrested and many guns were taken off the streets.
I was later transferred to investigate gangs, where I dismantled several violent street gangs who are serving lengthy prison sentences and are no longer a threat to the community. My current assignment is Violent Crime where we investigate crimes involving illegal weapons, robberies and ensuring the safety of communities struggling with violence.
As a result of my hard work and dedication, I received many awards throughout my career, one being the District Attorney’s Medal which is the highest honor presented by the District Attorney.
During my career I have dealt with people on many levels: violent encounters, family issues, public relations and civil matters. My interaction with the public has given me the “common sense” approach while handling the many situations. Throughout my career I have proudly served by putting myself in harm’s way to keep the communities safe from violent criminals.
As part of my job I was required to testify on many levels of in the judicial system. I have presented testimony in District Court, Common Pleas Court, Grand Jury investigations and Federal Court.
I strongly feel my thirty years of Law Enforcement and court experience qualifies me to serve in the capacity as a Magisterial District Judge. I successfully completed the required training mandated by the State of Pennsylvania, certifying me to perform the duties of a Magisterial District Judge. I have always been fair, honest and impartial as a Law Enforcement Officer and I will continue on the same path as a Magisterial District Judge.
