Anak-Anak & Bongkoron

Anak-Anak & Bongkoron is a Malay folktale from Borneo about two warriors who needed to prove their hunting skills before they could marry. The kind, hardworking Anak-Anak and the lazy bully Bongkoron. In his search for an offering to help him attract a bride, Anak-Anak stumbles upon an old woman by the river. She offers help if he beats her children and destroys her garden. However, Anak-Anak was too kind to do it. In return, the old woman rewards Anak-Anak a young gourd that transforms into a beautiful lady as his bride. Envious, Bongkoron was offered the same tasks but completes them without hesitation. Will Bongkoron’s reward be the same?
