Is 630 a decent credit score?
Update : We are looking to consolidate our debt (hopefully). They said my score is 651 and my husband's is 630... but we both have been bogged down with medical bills... everything else is being paid on every month, on time.

well credit cards will be hard to come by if you try opening new accounts it will only pull it down further (anytime you apply for new credit it hurts your score) If you currently have a cc--pay them on time and keep the balance under 30% (some say 50) if you can't pay them down that much but you have been diligent paying on time and at least the minimum amounts i would call and ask your bank to raise the limit.

as far as home loans go...i work for a wholesale lender and I can tell you 620 is the CUTOFF for a loan and you will have to pay A LOT more to get the rate...but credit score isn't your only factor...they will also look at your total "debt to income" and other things...

i'm not sure what is making your score so low but there are steps you can take to improve it! if you are more specific i can give you some more ideas! I've had a long road fixing mistakes I made when i was 18 and just not keeping on top of it...but it's paying off....good luck!
