Moreover, since the focus of the Nature Aquarium is on plants, it doesn't really provide much help for aquarists keeping tanks where plants are either difficult or impossible to grow, such as tanks for Malawi cichlids or brackish water fishes.
The Nature Aquarium is explicitly about suggesting natural environments, not replicating them. Students of the Nature Aquarium school of aquarium design use plants and rockwork to create miniature forests, meadows, and others green and peaceful habitats. The fishes add colour and movement to what is, essentially, an artificial landscape, albeit one inspired by nature.
