Tools
Candle stub or paraffin
Serrated knife
Ruler
Foam plate
Medium-, fine- and very fine-grit sandpaper
Tack cloth
Round toothpicks
Fine-tip scissors
Wire cutters
Thick, white craft glue; quick-drying thick white
Instructions
1. Wax serrated knife with a candle stub or paraffin. Slice 1/4"
from wide end of egg so it will stand upright.
2. Use a craft stick to apply plaster to foam egg. Insert craft stick in foam block to dry. Sand plastered egg with medium and then fine sandpaper until a smooth surface is achieved, wiping with a tack cloth as needed.
3. Apply a coat of gesso to plastered egg. Sand egg with very fine
sandpaper. Repeat as necessary until smooth.
4. Paint egg with two coats of blue.
5. Apply a coat of varnish to egg.
6. Flowers/Foliage: Follow the instructions provided in Miniature Quilled Flowers to form the designated flowers and foliage from
strips of quilling paper and white craft glue:

• Six roses (three each deep pink and light pink with flat green leaves)

• Seven jonquils

• Six wild daises

• Seven painted daises (one lavender, one purple, three blue, and three light pink)

• One forsythia sprig

• Three double leaves

Vines: Cut one 5" and two 4" lengths from green quilling paper. Cut each strip in half lengthwise and wrap around a toothpick. Remove toothpick and let paper spring open, producing a loose curl.

Bow: Use two complete lengths of purple quilling paper for bow and one 12" length for center knot and streamers. Run a fingernail over each strip to soften paper. Align the two long strips and form into a 4-loop bow. Wrap center of 12" strip around bow loops and secure with quick-drying glue. Pinch bow tightly in center. Carefully separate loops and shape.

Using photo as a guide, arrange and glue flowers and bow to top of egg. Continue flowers cascading down front and back of egg slightly.
