Bible Study of the NT APPLICATION description

App in Spanish

It examines the purpose of each book, who was the author, when and to whom it was written. It identifies the message of each book and how it relates to others.

The New Testament is the part of the Christian Bible composed of a canonical set of books and letters written after the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, which the apostolic tradition made discern the Church, separating other texts considered apocryphal (Greek: από 'far' , ΚρυφΠς 'occult', Latin: apócryphus). It is designated as New Testament since Tertullian in the Christian Church. Unlike the Hebrew Tanach, called by the Old Testament Christians, Jews (with the exception of so-called Messianic Jews) do not have the New Testament in common with Christians.

The use of the term "testament" comes from the Hebrew word berith ("covenant, covenant, covenant or provisions between two contracting parties"), through the Greek diatheké, and the Latin testamentum. Some authors present the Old and New Testament names that designate the two great sections in which the Christian Bible is divided as the result of an error of interpretation of the word diatheké, which means: 'desire' or 'will', and also 'Agreement' or 'agreement'.

With this criterion diatheké in Greek would refer to the old and new covenant of God with men rather than to the Scriptures themselves.

The New Testament is divided into five sections: The Gospels (from Matthew to John); History (book of Acts); The Pauline Epistles (from Romans to Philemon); The General Epistles (from Hebrews to Judas), and Prophecy (book of Revelation).

The New Testament was written about AD 45-95. The New Testament was written in the Greek koiné (common Greek, the common form of everyday Greek language in the first century AD).

The composition of the canonical New Testament was fixed little by little in the first centuries of the new movement. The oldest list is supposed to be written around 170.

The current list was originally published by Athanasius of Alexandria in 370 and consecrated as canonical at the Third Council of Carthage of 397. However, disputes over the composition of the canon did not cease. Martin Luther questioned the pertinence of including the Epistle of James, the Epistle of Judas, the Epistle to the Hebrews and the Apocalypse of John or Book of Revelation; Although ultimately, unlike the deuterocanónicos of the Old Testament, they were never rejected. However, the canonization of 2 Peter, 2 John, 3 John, James and Jude, as well as Hebrews and Revelation, remains a topic of debate.

The New Testament includes the four canonical Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, the epistles of Paul of Tarsus, seven epistles of various attributions and the Apocalypse, as can be seen in the diagram below .
