Bíblia. Tradução Brasileira APPLICATION description
A Tradução Brasileira data de 1917, tendo sido a primeira Bíblia completa a ser traduzida dos originais em solo brasileiro. Ganhou renome pela sua fidelidade aos originais, mas saiu de circulação em meados do século 20. Para este relançamento, houve atualização ortográfica, bem como adaptação da grafia dos nomes próprios às formas utilizadas na tradução de Almeida.
A chamada Tradução Brasileira da Bíblia (originalmente Tradução Brazileira, também conhecida como Versão Brasileira, ou Edição Brasileira) foi editada no início do século XX. Entre as características da tradução estão a literalidade, fidelidade ao texto base, a referência à tradicional tradução de João Ferreira de Almeida com a colaboração de vários eruditos brasileiros.
Comentários
José Carlos Rodrigues, dono e redator do Jornal do Commercio, o diário mais respeitado do Rio de Janeiro no começo do século XX, fez o seguinte comentário com respeito a Tradução Brasileira:
"[A Tradução Brasileira da Bíbia] perde um pouco do belo português... Porém ganha na fidelidade ao sentido original... É a versão portuguesa que deve permanecer como, a mais fiel, sendo por isso
indispensável aos que estudam a Bíblia”.2
O Dr. William Carey Taylor, professor de Grego Neotestamentário e autor do Livro "Introdução ao Estudo do Novo Testamento Grego", compartilhando da opinião de José Carlos Rodrigues sobre a
tradução, destacou:
"É uma das versões mais fiéis aos [escritos] originais que tenho lido em qualquer língua."
O Nome de Deus
Uma das particularidades mais interessantes da Versão Brasileira é o uso do nome de Deus. O nome Jeová aparece em todos os locais onde o texto hebraico adotado traz o Tetragrama YHWH. A versão
brasileira não apresenta a forma Jeová nas porções aramaicas da Bíblia, nem em lugar algum das escrituras gregas cristãs (isto ocorre porque nenhum dos milhares de manuscritos gregos do assim chamado
"Novo Testamento" contém o Tetragrama). Nas edições do início do século XX, a versão brasileira trazia o nome de Deus grafado ‘Jehovah’; na versão atual, ‘Jeová’.
The Brazilian Translation date 1917, and was the first complete Bible to be translated from the original on Brazilian soil. Gained renown for his faithfulness to the original, but left the movement in the mid 20th century. For this reissue, there were spelling upgrading and adaptation of the spelling of proper names to the forms used in the translation of Almeida.
The call Brazilian Translation of the Bible (originally Brazileira translation, also known as Version Brasileira, or Brazilian edition) was published in the early twentieth century. Among the features are a literal translation, faithful to the basic text, the reference to traditional translation of King James in collaboration with several Brazilian scholars.

José Carlos Rodrigues, owner and editor of the Jornal do Commercio, the most respected journal of Rio de Janeiro in the early twentieth century, made the following comment with respect to Brazilian
Translation:
"[A Brazilian Translation bibia] loses some of the beautiful Portuguese ... But gains in fidelity to the original meaning ... is that the English version shall remain, the most faithful, therefore it
is essential to studying the Bible" .2
Dr. William Carey Taylor, professor of New Testament Greek and author of the book "Introduction to the Study of New Testament Greek", sharing the opinion of José Carlos Rodrigues on translation,
noted:
"It is one of the most faithful versions of the [written] original that I have read in any language."
The Name of God
One of the most interesting peculiarities of the Brazilian version is the use of God's name. The name Jehovah appears in all places where the Hebrew text adopted brings the Tetragrammaton YHWH. The
Brazilian version does not have the form Jehovah in the Aramaic portions of the Bible, nor in any of the Christian Greek Scriptures place (this is because none of the thousands of Greek manuscripts
of the so-called "New Testament" contains the Tetragrammaton). In editions of the early twentieth century, the Brazilian version bore the name of God spelled 'Jehovah', in the current version,
'Jehovah'.
