Bright Sparks Penwortham

We are a well established day nursery in Penwortham, which has been caring for the children of South Ribble for 15 years. Bright Sparks has family values and is run by its owner Lynn Donnelly, with the aide of well qualified mature staff, who have worked for Bright Sparks for more than 5 years, and in some cases over ten years.

Every staff member takes their role of caring and educating children very seriously, which is reflected in the range of qualifications and on going training in early years childcare and education. Qualifications range from EYPS, BA (Hons) Degrees in Early Years to NVQ 3, and other qualifications such as Forest School Practioner. The nursery is divided into three areas, each specialising in a different age group, these are: the baby room, toddler room and pre school. We have spaces for 43 children daily, with ages ranging from 3 months to 4 years.

Forest School

Bright Sparks offer the Forest School experience, Forest school is learning out doors with a qualified Forest School instructor. We are lucky enough to have a large out door facility within a five minutes walk of nursery. Here the children are freed of the restrictions of indoor learning, and are able to learn everything they would learn indoors, out doors.

This type of learning is especially benefical to young boys, who we often find, are inhibited by the restrictions of classroom learning. The children access forest school in all weathers, which is all part of the learning process, while at Forest School the children have the opportunity to use tools, observe the world of mini beasts, watch wild life such as birds and squirrels, climb tree's, grow vegetables and much more according to the seasons.

Bright Sparks Funded Places

Bright Sparks offers free pre school education for all children the term after their third birthday. The terms run as follows: Sept - Dec Jan - Mar Apr - Aug Your child will have the opportunity to access the wealth of experience and resources provided by Bright Sparks staff for 15 hours per week term time only, or 12 hours per week throughout the year. These hours will be made available to you as flexibly as vacancies allow. Just call into nursery to book your free sessions, the term before your child is three.
