Buddhism Teaching - What are some of Lord Buddha’s Everlasting Teachings?

The religion of Buddhism is based on peace and is beautiful. It comes from the teachings of Lord Buddha, who was a prince and turned into an ascetic at a very young age. The religion is followed by millions across the world, and also inspires many others - even those who follow other religions. Know about some of the everlasting Buddhism teaching, and what he taught the world with his utterances and lifestyle.

Impermanence

It is the most important teaching in this doctrine, and it upholds the essential truth that everything is impermanent in life. Everything that is being seen and experienced undergoes a change, and death is the end of everyone who is born. Nobody is spared of this inevitable end. Life and the world are always in a state of flux, and the acceptance of this state can help people embrace the truth and learn to let go.

Desire

One of the most profound teachings of the Lord is that desire is the root cause of all cases of suffering. Whenever a person desires for something - whether a material possession or the affection of a loved one or for approval and appreciation - it can either be fulfilled or unfulfilled. When expectations are not fulfilled, there is sadness and suffering. Craving for anything causes attachment and makes people come back to the world again and again. This explains why Lord Buddha lived a life that was neither too austere nor too luxurious. After his enlightenment, his teachings reflected a “Middle Way” that focused on avoiding any extremes in life. According to him, suffering could only be stopped by giving up all desires.

Karma

The theory of Karma is a scientific one and can be associated to the Newton’s law of action and reaction that was proposed many centuries later. According to Lord Buddha, there is no bad or good action. Any action has a reaction and creates karma. This is one of the most important tenets of Buddhism, which is also there in Hinduism, and mentions that the effects of the actions of an individual determine his or her fate in his next life and in his next birth or incarnation. Thus, the Buddha advised people to follow the Noble Eightfold Path - that includes following the Right Behavior, Right Belief, Right Concentration, Right Contemplation, Right Effort, Right Intent, Right Livelihood and Right Speech. In Buddhism teaching, the Eightfold Path is of high significance.

Compassion

Buddhism teaches the path of Dharma, which teaches compassion for the self as well as for the others. This ultimately leads to escape from ignorance and fear. It is only with compassion and kindness for fellow species as well as for other species that one can attain inner peace and purification. Outer peace cannot be achieved without inner peace. When the mind is trained in the spiritual paths of Buddhism, peace can be established faster and more easily.

The integration of Buddhism teaching in the daily life can help solve all the problems in the society and help people attain total peace.
