Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah atau lebih dikenal dengan julukan HAMKA adalah seorang ulama, sastrawan, sejarawan, dan juga politikus yang sangat terkenal di Indonesia. Buya HAMKA juga seorang pembelajar yang otodidak dalam bidang ilmu pengetahuan seperti filsafat, sastra, sejarah, sosiologi dan politik, baik Islam maupun Barat. Hamka pernah ditunjuk sebagai menteri agama dan juga aktif dalam perpolitikan Indonesia. Hamka lahir di desa kampung Molek, Maninjau, Sumatera Barat, 17 Februari 1908

Nama Hamka bukan saja terkenal di Indonesia malah di Malaysia, Singapura, Brunei dan beberapa Negara Arab. Beliau diberi gelaran Buya, panggilan masyarakat Minangkabau yang bermaksud ayah atau seseorang yang dihormati. Buya Hamka terkenal sebagai seorang Sasterawan, pendakwah, ulama dan aktivis politik.
