O juriti-safira é uma ave da ordem Columbiformes da família Columbidae.

Características

Mede de 22 a 26 centímetros. Uma das mais belas espécies da família Columbidae,
apresenta a plumagem tingida de tons multicoloridos.
Pomba acinzentada com o dorso apresentando brilho característico safira.
Verde arroxeado para o manto, rabadilha safira, cauda escura,
asas marrons com pontas enegrecidas. Cabeça acinzentada com faixa malar preta.
Apresenta também uma faixa branca que vai da testa até quase a nuca,
sendo esta faixa limitada na parte superior pela coroa azul no alto
da cabeça e na parte inferior pela faixa malar preta.
Seu ventre é acinzentado. Suas pernas são rosadas, bico e olhos escuros.

Hábitos

Os seus habitats naturais são:
florestas subtropicais ou tropicais úmidas de baixa altitude e regiões subtropicais
ou tropicais úmidas de alta altitude. Vive no sub-bosque fechado de matas de terra firme.
Como hábito, prefere se esconder na cobertura mais densa da floresta, em vez de voar.
É encontrado isoladamente, ou em pares.

Distribuição Geográfica

Pode ser encontrada nos seguintes países: Brasil, Colômbia, Equador e Peru.
Ocorrendo no noroeste da Amazônia ocidental. Foi registrada por E. O. Willis,
