A Patativa é um pássaro de canto belo, melodioso. Este canto é usado pelo macho para marcar seu território.
Seu canto é tão atraente e lindo que o pássaro é citado em poemas, versos e músicas,
além de ter virado apelido de cantores do Nordeste.
As características da Patativa são a cor cinza-azulado dos machos e parda de fêmeas e dos jovens filhotes.

o Brejal e a Patativa da Amazônia, entre outras.
No período reprodutivo, primavera e verão, a fêmea constrói seu ninho em forma de uma taça,
em árvores não muito altas. Ali ela fará a postura de 2 ou 3 ovinhos que serão incubados por 13 dias.
Depois de 35 dias os filhotes já se alimentam sozinhos e já se separam dos pais.
Infelizmente, apesar do seu belo canto, a Patativa é um pássaro ameaçado na natureza.
São caçados, principalmente os machos pelo seu canto,
sofrem com a destruição e poluição do seu habitat natural e mais ainda pelo tráfico que ocorre em qualquer período e lugar.
