Lechbruck am See (amtlich: Lechbruck a.See) ist eine Gemeinde im schwäbischen Landkreis Ostallgäu. Der Gemeindename wird erstmals im Jahr 1398 urkundlich erwähnt. Lechbruck gehörte zum Hochstift Augsburg. Seit dem Reichsdeputationshauptschluss von 1803 gehört der Ort zu Bayern. Im Zuge der Verwaltungsreformen in Bayern entstand mit dem Gemeindeedikt von 1818 die heutige Gemeinde.
Der Ort hatte vor dem Bau der Bahnstrecke Marktoberdorf - Lechbruck und der Lechregulierung eine lange Tradition als "Flößerdorf". Die mutigen Lechbrucker Flößer waren zuständig für das Flößen von Gebirgshölzern, Stein- und Baumaterial, Holzkohle und Lebensmitteln aus dem oberen Lechtal bis in den Augsburger Raum. Nicht wenige Flöße sind bis 1819 sogar donauabwärts bis Wien, Budapest und Belgrad gefahren. A warm welcome in Lechbruck. There are endless reasons to be proud of our community. Lechbruck (officially: Lechbruck a.See) is a municipality in the Swabian district Ostallgäu. The community name is first mentioned in 1398. Lechbruck belonged to the Bishopric of Augsburg. Since Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803 the place belongs to Bayern. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria originated with the municipality edict of 1818, the church today.
The place had before the construction of the railway line Marktoberdorf-Lechbruck and the Lech regulation has a long tradition as a "Flößerdorf". The courageous Lechbrucker rafters were responsible for rafting of mountain woods, stone and building material, charcoal and food from the upper Lechtal up in the Augsburg area. Quite a few rafts to 1819 even driven down the Danube to Vienna, Budapest and Belgrade.
