In the app you can quickly obtain the weaknesses of the Pokémons you will fight by researching the names and send them in your notifications.

Back in the Pokémon GO app, you can now see the weaknesses conveniently in your notifications and choose the right opponent for the battle.

Every Pokémon has either one or two 'types'. Each type has strengths and weaknesses against other types. For example, grass is vulnerable to fire, while fire is vulnerable to water and water is vulnerable to grass, etc.
