Paraguay (en guaraní: Paraguái), oficialmente República del Paraguay, es un país de América, situado en la zona central de América del Sur. Su territorio está compuesto en 17 departamentos y un distrito capital. Su capital es la ciudad de Asunción.

Limita con Argentina al sudeste, sur y sudoeste, con Bolivia al norte y con Brasil al este. Es el cuarto país más pequeño tanto en extensión territorial como en población de América del Sur. Su territorio está caracterizado por dos regiones diferentes separadas por el río Paraguay, la Oriental, que es la más poblada, y la Occidental, que forma parte del Chaco Boreal. Si bien es un Estado sin litoral marítimo, cuenta con puertos sobre los ríos Paraguay y Paraná que le dan una salida al océano Atlántico a través de la Hidrovía Paraguay-Paraná.

Its territory is characterized by two different Western regions separated by the Paraguay River, the Oriental, which is the most populated, and part of the Chaco Boreal. While it is a landlocked State, it has ports on the Paraguay and Parana rivers that give an outlet to the Atlantic Ocean via the Paraguay-Parana.
