Only a few small factions are left, protected by the sole surviving\ncity. For decades, this city has been under the guidance of a supernatural band of guardians sent to keep the human population from becoming extinct. At the beginning of their appearance, these\nguardians appeared as stalwart warriors who were able to interact with the humans and fight their battles, but over time, their power has diminished, leaving them merely a privy council that leads\nthe last of the race in battle against evolved species who would seek to destroy them. With their ever diminishing role in the human realm, the guardians have made it their final task to employ the\nhelp of a human stamped with the crest of the gods who will become the leader and recruiter of the next group of guardians.

\nYour village was burned to the ground, and you were its final resident, the sole survivor, when a supernatural being descended upon the ruins of your homeland to mark you.
