DIY Origami Crafts

Origami comes from ancient China around the first century AD and it was introduced in Japan by Chinese travelers. This is the Chinese art of paper-folding immediately caught the fancy of Japan to develop various forms of origami.
Origami is practiced only by Japanese nobility rich. As expensive paper during that period, it was used by the Japanese wealthy to show their skills and wealth. Samurai will exchange gifts with a strip of folded paper dried fish or meat, known as 'Noshi'. This is considered a sign of good luck. Shinto royalty celebrate weddings by wrapping glasses of rice wine in a butterfly-shaped origami representing the bride and groom.

As time passed, the paper became cheaper. People from different social backgrounds can practice the art of origami. Origami instructions transmitted orally from mother to child, generation to generation. There is no written script of origami instruction due to the high level of illiteracy, and most families do not want their ideas to be copied by others. The first book, Orikata Senbazuru Hiden (Secrets Thousand Origami Cranes), origami instructions published in 1797. In 1819, a woodblock print created titled, A Magician Turns Birds sheet, showing a bird made of paper. Midwinter window was published in 1845, covering 150 origami models.

Origami create interest in the minds of those who love the craft activities even today. Arts and crafts activities enjoyed by children who love to make their own special object of the paper.
