E balteatus

A wildlife biological recording app for a specific project to record the hoverfly Episyrphus batleatus. This app is designed to record the species in its natural environment using Google maps as a backdrop, including aerial photography. Sightings are stored in the SQLite database for export via eMail or loaded directly to the eReca server and posted to the web after appropriate validation.

This smartphone app uses a cache to store offline map tiles and with access to WiFi, it's easy to pre-load maps simply by viewing a route or area and then visiting that area later.

When access to a network is available this app will automatically record the local weather at the time of the sighting and save this along with the details of the sighting in the SQLite database.
