ESSAY WRITINGS SIMPLIFIED

In my years of practice as a teacher of English Language and Literature Studies, I have been opportune to instruct and educate students in various aspects of this subject. I have found that when it comes to the art of essay and letter writing, most students get stuck. This largely affects their performance in essay writing tasks especially in external examinations during their final year in the secondary school. During the West African Examination Council (WAEC) or National Examination Council (NECO) examinations, these students are required to attempt one out of five different questions in the essay section.
This section comprises questions on letter writing, expository essay, argumentative essay, narrative essay, speech writing and article writing. Some students struggle with tyranny of blank sheet while others are plagued with the artistry of putting words side by side in sentence while abiding by the rules of grammar.
