Imagine playing golf in the most idyllic countryside location. The Glen of the Downs Parkland course was designed by Peter McEvoy, whose other achievements include Powerscourt and Rathsallagh. Retaining the character of the surrounding nature while sculpting exciting features, the result is a course that is suitable to all golfing conditions. Exceeding the expectations of the most discriminating golfer, the 18-hole, 6,443 yard course is challenging, yet offers enjoyment to players of every level. It is also pleasant to the eye as Peter’s trademark design is etched throughout the course, and built to USGA specifications with sand based greens and tees.

The course plays similar to a links course featuring many elevated tees and excellent bunkers. True to many great golfers’ expectations, there are moments of near heartbreak and sheer delight while playing this course. The highlights include a five-tier double green which is shared by the 8th and 10th holes. Sandwiched in between is a quite superb par five - the 9th, which measures 500 yards off the back.

With Glen of the Downs Peter McEvoy believes he has constructed “probably the best set of par 3's ever”. Golfers of all levels are sure to find the course a challenge with its natural slopes and valleys, combined with McEvoy's rolling fairways and some 90 bunkers. The course is easy to walk around although there are buggies available for hire. The view is also something to be appreciated with a magnificent panorama of the Wicklow Mountains and the Irish Sea.
