The Last of Us 2: A sequel to the best video game of all time is coming soon
Ellie will be the star of The Last of Us 2, Naughty Dog has confirmed.
A sequel to The Last of Us, a game widely considered among the best ever made, is coming. And it will be all about "hate".

Developers Naughty Dog confirmed The Last of Us Part II at the PlayStation Experience event over the weekent, saying it was in early development.

While both characters from the 2013 original would return, the sequel will feature Ellie as the main playable character, not Joel, the star of the first game, said creative director Neil Druckmann.

"Joel was the star in the first, Ellie is the star in this one. Ellie plays differently from Joel," he was reported as saying.

"If the first game was really about the love between these two characters, this story is the counter of that. "This is story is about hate, through Ellie this time."

The original game told the story of a group of survivors after a zombie apocalypse, with Joel guiding Ellie - who possibly had an antidote to the virus - to safety.
The Last of Us takes place in a bleak future, twenty years after a fungal infection has wiped out much of humanity, turning them in to mutated savages. Those who survived are not much better, with survivors huddled together in quarantined zones, struggling and scavenging for the remaining food, weapons - and anything else they can get their hands on. Joel is such a survivor, living a life of smuggling and black marketeering - and one with few morals. He's hired to transport a teenage girl named Ellie across the country, but what seems like a simple job turns into a desperate and profound journey across what remains of America.
