Calculate Severance Payment paid according to The Employment Ordinance, Cap 57

No matter what your employer / boss has laid off and fired you for any reason, including:
(1) he closes or intends to close his business;
(2) he ceases or intends to cease operating a workplace where an employee is employed; or
(3) He has reduced or expected to reduce the amount of work performed by an employee or the work performed by an employee at the place where he is employed.
For the above reasons for layoffs or a fixed-term contract has expired without renewal or suspension of work, as long as you are employed as a wage earner under a continuous contract for at least two years, you can enjoy severance pay.
Severance payments can be offset against:
(1) the employee has been paid a remuneration based on years of service or an occupational retirement plan benefit (not attributable to the employee's contribution); or
(2) In the MPF, the employee has been paid an accrued benefit (not attributable to the employee's contribution) or held the accrued benefit.
