International United Native Nation 510 APPLICATION description
IUNN510 is a service delivery organization for the aboriginal & metis community.
On April 28, 1969 the British Columbia Association of Non-Status Indians (BCANSI) was formed to address the political and social-economic concerns of Aboriginal Peoples in urban, rural, and remote off-reserve communities in British Columbia. That same year the on-reserve, status Aboriginal population in British Columbia created a province wide political organization called the Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs (UBCIC) to give political voice for on-reserve Aboriginal Peoples in British Columbia that still exist today.
In June 1976 Tom Pitfold of Prince Rupert came up with United Native Nations (UNN) as a new name for BCANSI that more accurately reflects the role of the organization. That the UNN gives a political voice for the status, non-status, and Metis that is in urban, rural, and remote off-reserve. Also, to ensure that the social, economic and political needs of every off-reserve Aboriginal Peoples in British Columbia were being advocated by the organization at every level of government.
Today the United Native Nation 510 continues on with this vision of helping the First Nation's Community locally, provincially, nationally, and globally.
