IRIS Registry Physician APPLICATION description
The IRIS™ Registry (Intelligent Research in Sight) is the nation's first comprehensive eye disease clinical registry. The American Academy of Ophthalmology is developing it as part of the profession's shared goal of continual improvement in the delivery of eye care.
The IRIS™ Registry will be a centralized system for ophthalmology practices to promote practice innovations and achieve clinical excellence. It will provide for ophthalmologists:
1. Easy-to-interpret benchmark reports that validate the quality care being provided and identify specific opportunities for improvement
2. Access to clinically relevant data on diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, cataract and glaucoma
3. Quality measurement solutions to help practices benefit from pay-for-performance incentives for which they may qualify
4. Automated data collection - through electronic health record systems - that will fit seamlessly into practice workflow
