「ジプシーの月」は民謡です。
「さらばジャマイカ」はジャマイカの伝統曲です。
「南京豆売り」は露店商の掛け声から生まれた曲のようです。
1927年に作詞作曲された古い曲で、ヨーロッパでもヒットし、日本でも戦前からカバーされていました。
ジプシーはヨーロッパで移動しながら生活する民族の名前ですが、蠑年日本では「ロマ」と言い換えられています。
最も古い記録では襠暦1100年にその存在が現れたと記録されているようです。
ジャマイカはカリブ海に位置する立憲君主制国家で、英連邦王国でもあります。
その歴史にはコロンブスが関わっており、コロンブスによって「発見」されたとされています。
先住民は彼らが持ち込んだ疫病によって、絶滅してしまった悲しい歴史があります。
現在の国民は奴隷として連れてこられたアフリカ系の民族が９０％を占めているようです。
ジャマイカを有名にしたのは1960年代後半に生まれたレゲエではないでしょうか。
