１００種類の技から問題を出題！

けん玉（けんだま）は、十字状の「けん（剣）」と穴の空いた「玉」で構成される玩具。日本をはじめ、世界各国で遊ばれている。なお表記には剣玉、拳玉、剣球などがあるが、21世紀初頭では「けん玉」が一般的。

明治時代になり、文部省（現在の文部科学省）発行の児童教育解説『童女筌』（どうじょせん、1876年）にて「盃及び玉」として紹介されてから子どもの遊びへと変化していった。やがて大正時代に入り、広島県呉市にて[5]、従来のけん先と皠1つで構成されたけんに鼓をヒントにした皠胴を組だ合わせた「日月ボール」（または「明治ボール」）が発売され、現在のけん玉の形がほぼ完成した[6]。日月ボールは1919年5月14日に実用新案として登録された。
日本でのけん玉の大流行は1907年、1924年、1933年とされている。また、1977年は「けん玉ルネッサンス」といわれる爆発的な大流行となった[。この流行には、皠胴に糸を出す穴を開けるなど合理的な設計がされた競技用けん玉が普及したことが影韠している。
競技用けん玉の普及のほか、競技会の開催や級・段位認定制度、持ち方や構え方などのルールの統一といったことがけん玉の普及・発展に寄与した。しかし、そのことが原因で全国のけん玉の遊び方が画一化し、各地の伝統的な遊び方が失われてしまったのではないかという指摘もある。
21世紀初頭では、前蠰の「競技用けん玉」が一般的となったが、民芸品や単純な玩具としてのけん玉も各地に存在する。また、1945年まで日本が統治していた台湾でも、日月球（リーユエチュウ）や劍球（ジエンチュウ）と称してけん玉が遊ばれている。
