Terbentuk 10 April 2010, tujuh anak muda yang terdiri dari Bisma, Ilham, Dicky, Morgan, Rangga, Reza, dan Rafael melaju di tengah kontroversial. Mereka yang menamai diri mereka dengan sebutan SM*SH atau SMASH berusaha memberikan warna baru di tengah industri musik Indonesia yang didominasi genre melayu.
SMASH sendiri dianggap sebagai boyband plagiat karena meniru band SMASH asal Jepang dan Korea. Pun begitu mereka mengaku tidak demikian. Justru inspirasi berasal dari sang King of Pop, Michael Jackson - meski gaya yang mungkin hampir sama dengan boyband Korea yang sedang melejit Formed 10 April 2010, seven young people consisting of Bhishma, Ilham, Dicky, Morgan, Rangga, Reza, and Rafael melaju in the midst of controversy. Those who call themselves as SM * SH or SMASH trying to give a new color in the Indonesian music industry dominated genre wither.
SMASH is considered a boyband plagiarism because it mimics the SMASH band from Japan and Korea. Even so they claimed not. It is precisely the inspiration came from the King of Pop, Michael Jackson - even though the style may be almost the same as the booming Korean boyband
