MCEC National Training Seminar APPLICATION description
The official app of the 2017 National Training Seminar held in Washington, DC on
July 31 - August 2 2017.
The Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) National Training Seminar (NTS) is a globally-recognized, premier training event for anyone interested in serving and supporting military and veteran-connected children. The event provides a unique opportunity to engage with senior military, education and thought leaders and learn in-depth coverage of current issues relevant to military-connected children during a period of significant change and challenge.
This year’s theme, Military and Veteran Children: A Constellation of Strengths and Challenges, will be complemented by four strands that move beyond entry-level awareness and offer innovative ideas, active hands-on learning, and critical information relevant to attendees dedicated to serving the military-connected child. Sessions will focus on:
USING DATA EFFECTIVELY (D2K2P)
Help attendees translate research data into personal knowledge that can be applied in practice in professional and personal lives to support military-connected students.
SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL)
Focus on programs, partnerships and best practices that provide measurable results in helping military families and their children thrive in their environment.
PARTNERING PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS
Highlight exceptional partnerships and illustrate how to navigate challenges and maximize benefits of initiating partnerships in local military installations or school districts that serve the interests of military and veteran-connected students.
EDUCATION POLICY
Discuss policy implementations and forces leading us in the right direction to support military children and how education policies can be improved, developed and adapted to benefit students we serve.
