Metis Local 1935

Fort McMurray Metis Local 1935 has embarked on an ambitious and innovative project designed to document, collect, capture and celebrate the presence of Metis cultural traditions and significant contributions of Metis peoples and communities in the Wood Buffalo Region. The Métis are one of three distinct Aboriginal peoples of Canada, recognized under section 35 in the 1982 Constitution. Fiercely independent, the Métis were instrumental in the development of western Canada.
