Menu → Preferences → Long press on Version info → Developer options → Slide to close widget panel

Q: Why are there no "Open/Close/Add widget panel" buttons?
A: They are just invisible to follow the minimalistic Style of the Minimal L Theme. You can still press on the place where the icons are supposed to be or just Slide/ Long Press.
