MLA-Causelist 2.0 APPLICATION description

Causelists and legacy judgments - Supreme Court of India, Madras/Madurai HC
The MLA Causelist app is here in a completely new native version with a lot of power packed and useful features. We have a complete lawyer module and a litigant module enabled. Currently the system has about 4,00,00,000 (yes that's right 4 crores/40 million case records) from the 37 higher courts of appeal in India and about 200,000 judgments and the numbers are growing by the day. The new features in a nutshell:

For lawyers/legal professionals -

a. Completely free for the lawyer fraternity for the home courts (current court of practice and associated benches). All the other courts are subscription based.

b. Powerful notification service included enabling two way communication between lawyers, clients and related parties.

c. Enhanced reporting feature with a set of free reports and additional reports available on a subscription model.

d. Legacy data - You can save a lot of time and effort that you actually spend to pull out old records. The ecosystem has Causelist data from Jan 2014 all structured and stored. Any lawyer or litigant can go back and retrieve data from Causelists right from Jan 2014 till date as they were published by the respective authorities at a minimal cost.

e. The app also integrates with the calendar on your Android device, so you can everything seamlessly from a single calendar.

f. New and enhanced hearing notes feature and assign lawyer feature. Now assign a lawyer at any stage of your case and grant him access for the dates on when he/she appears for the case.

g. Manage the calendars of all the higher courts of appeal on one app. Choose any court you would want to, assign a specific color and integrate it with your calendar.

h. All judgments of the Supreme Court of India, the Madras High Court and the Madurai bench available within the app and also on the web framework, you can now refer to judgments from wherever you are. In addition we are also working on a new set of features that would enable collaboration on judgments.

i. We are in the process of adding other high courts, the consumer courts, the family courts and all the important tribunals and should be available within this year. We are a small startup and will build these courts based on adoption and priorities.

j. Suggestive referencing - Built both into the app and the web framework this feature allows users to immediately look at similar cases or judgments across courts. You can now decide on your approach to relief based on suggestive referencing.

k. A new notification feature, a lawyer will get notified when a litigant has added the case details on his phone. This will enable effective and efficient tracking and communication.

For litigants -

Recently a litigant had appealed to the High Court of Chennai saying that he was not aware of the status of the case as his lawyer had not kept him informed and requested for an extension and related relief. The High Court of Chennai dismissed the petition and issued an order saying that it is the responsibility of the litigants to keep track of their cases and that the petition was not a sustainable one. It is clear that it is also the responsibility of the litigant to keep track of cases.

The features for litigants are -

a. A subset of all the above features at a nominal subscription fee.

b. A clearer communication channel which helps you stay updated on your case.

c. Access to the laws of the country and also to judgments in similar cases across various courts in India based on case type and at a later date type of relief.

All in all a complete utility to track, manage and communicate effectively and efficiently!! What are you waiting for, try out the app....
