Modern World Debates APPLICATION description
Debating has always held a special place at Modern and over the years with the evolution of this art, our students have redefined what it means to be a modern debater.
This year in addition to attending the Global Young Leaders course in England, our students traveled to Nainital and Dehradun, to participate in a wide range of inter-school competitions. Closer home, our participation in Debate Dubai was extremely praiseworthy with students from the transition years taking top honours at the keenly contested competition.
However, it was Modern’s victory at the Modern World Debates in 2014 that will go down as the highlight of the year with our team of Vikram Ajith, Sreyas Narayanan and Pranav Anand bringing home the coveted trophy. The Modern Debating Society has taken huge strides this year with the introduction of a Middle School Debating Club which is run by our teachers and members of the society.
The Debating Society provides a platform for students to discover their potential and allows them to speak their mind in an environment of critical thought and discussion as they contemplate on the issues that affect them both as individuals and members of the global community.
Finally, we would like to congratulate our Debating Society President Pranav Anand for his selection to the UAE’s national debate team. What a wonderful achievement and high note to end the year on!
