Gus Azmi yang bernama lengkap Muhammad Ulul Azmi Askandar al-Abshor merupakan vokalis dari grup sholawat Syubbanul Muslimin. Grup sholawat yang berasal dari pondok Pesantren Nurul Qodim Kalikajar Paiton Probolinggo dan diasuh oleh KH. Hafidzul Hakim Noer. Gus Azmi merupakan salah satu vokalis yang paling menonjol. Hal ini dikarenakan Gus Azmi memiliki wajah yang tampan dan cute. Banyak kaum hawa terutama dari kalangan anak-anak dan remaja yang terhipnotis oleh auranya.



Selain tampan Gus Azmi juga masih tergolong masih muda. Pemuda yang kini duduk di sekolah Pondok Pesantren Nurul Qadim kelas VIII memiliki ciri khas dengan tahilalat di atas bibirnya. Para fans yang menyukai lagu dan pribadinya penasaran dengan sosoknya. Seorang idola baru telah lahir dan kebetulan latar belakangnya bukan berasal dari kalangan anak artis.

Grup sholawat Gus Azmi yang bernama Syubbanul Muslimin berdiri tahun 2005. Syubbanul Muslimin yang berarti Pemuda Islam ini lahir dari keprihatinan terhadap pemuda di sekitar pondok pesantren yang sudah berubah. Awalnya hanya terdiri dari 40 orang dan seiring berjalannya waktu bertambah menjadi 70 orang. Tujuan dibentuknya grup ini adalah untuk mengajak pemuda untuk lebih mencintai Nabi Muhammad SAW.
