NACRJ 2017 APPLICATION description
Welcome to the 6th National Conference of the National Association of Community and Restorative Justice at the Oakland Marriott from June 16th-18th, 2017. A pre-conference training day is June 15th,
2017.
The theme of the conference is Moving Restorative Justice from Margins to Center:
We're the Ones We've Been Waiting For
In this exciting and innovative conference we expect more than 1,100 participants, over 80 youth and nearly 100 formerly incarcerated people.
Our focus in the conference is on;
· Promoting radical inclusivity - elevating historically marginalized voices
· Promoting radical healing - engaging restorative justice with cultural and trauma healing practices
· Exploring the intersection of restorative justice with other contemporary movements - Abolitionism, #BlackLivesMatter, and transgender and sexual violence activism
· Creative delivery formats - healing spaces, circles, Black Panther historic tour (as well as plenaries and panels), cultural activities
