Setiap Jum'at kliwon, majelis ini mengadakan pembacaan maulid Nabi SAW. selesai melakukan shalat Jum'at berada di tempat tinggal beliau Jalan Toba No. 53 Pekalongan, Jawa Tengah, yang saat ini jadi Sekertariat Majelis Az-Zahir. Seiring waktu berjalan, majelis yang semula diadakan pada jumat siang hari ini dirubah jadi malam Jumat kliwon serta ditambah kajian fiqih dan akhlak sesuai sama arahan Al-Habib Muhammad Luthfi bin Yahya. Terkecuali majelis teratur yang diadakan saat malam Jum'at kliwon, Majelis Az-Zahir juga mempunyai aktivitas teratur serta safari maulid di sebagian tempat, baik di kabupaten pekalongan, sekitaran Propinsi Jawa Tengah, serta kota-kota yang lain.
