This important relationship comes from the organization of African deities be a symbolic way to codify the rules of behavior. The precepts are all the basic matrix of family and tribal organization, the possible attitudes of the various paths to the same issue. For the same problem, different deities propose different answers - and there is rarely a social agreement to establish one of the outputs as correct and the other not. The African case law in this direction rather live with the opposite, establishing a maximum of that, in an impasse, Ogun do this, Iansã do that, for example.
So, I wish no more powers than the other is not hierarchically superior, but deserves the respect of all as representing the patriarch, the head of household. Each family member has their duties and the right to inter-relate as equals with all the other members, the legends of the Orishas confirm through independence that each holds for the other. I wish, however, is what brings the memory of other times, the solutions already found in the past for similar cases, deserving therefore the respect of all in a society that actively worshiped their ancestors. It is empirical knowledge, in this case placed above the expertise that each Orisha can have: Ossaim the liturgy; Oxóssi, hunting; Ogun, metallurgy; Oshun, motherhood; Yemanja, education; Omolu, medicine - and so forth.
