PUISI. Siapa yang tidak mengenal kata ini?. Puisi adalah satu diantara bentuk karya sastra yang berfungsi sebagai pengungkap perasaan dari penyair.

Dalam KBBI tahun 2016, puisi adalah ragam sastra yang bahasanya terikat oleh irama, mantra, rima serta penyusunan larik dan bait; sajak. Pengertian tersebut menjelaskan bahwa puisi memiliki keteraturan meskipun diciptakan secara bebas oleh penyair. Namun demikian, penciptaan puisi pada masa ini berbeda dengan masa lalu, sebelum perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan seni mengalami kemajuan secara teknis.

Dewasa ini, puisi semakin diminati oleh penyair- penyair muda berbakat dan penikmat seni. Hal tersebut dikarenakan penciptaan puisi saat ini tidak lagi terikat oleh aturan teknis yang ada pada masa puisi lama (hingga tahun 1920). Pembagian aturan tersebut mengakibatkan adanya kesepakatan kolektif untuk memilah jenis jenis puisi beserta penjelasannya berdasarkan temporal dan ciri-ciri fisiknya.
