How does proTXTion work?

proTXTion uses a small Bluetooth-enabled device that plugs into your vehicle’s OBDII onboard computer port along with a free app that is downloaded onto your Android or Blackberry handset. When the ignition is turned on, the device alerts the proTXTion app and disables text and phone functions.

Installation is easy!
1. Purchase the proTXTion module at www.protxtion.com.
2. Follow instructions that come with the proTXTion™ module and download the app for your phone (BlackBerry or Android) 
3. Plug the proTXTion module into the vehicle's OBDII port.  
4. When the car is started for the first time, you will be prompted to pair the proTXTion monitoring device with the phone using Bluetooth.
5. Set up your personal profile.  And you're ready to drive safer with proTXTion!

What makes proTXTion a better solution than GPS-based apps?

proTXTion is not just another anti-texting and driving app.  Most anti-texting and driving apps available today rely on the phone's GPS system to detect sufficient motion to disable texting functions while the car is moving.  But anyone who uses their phone's GPS applications knows that they’re prone to poor performance even in the best conditions.  Sprint's own website says that their system can sometimes take a few minutes to locate the phone, and during those few minutes, the phone will be fully functional, meaning that texts and phone calls will come in. Distracted driving can happen in those few minutes.  Collisions caused by distracted driving can happen in those few minutes.

The proTXTion safe driving system doesn't use the phone's GPS to determine if the vehicle is moving.  proTXTion uses a small Bluetooth-enabled monitoring device that connects directly to the car’s OBDII onboard computer port. When the vehicle's ignition is turned on, the proTXTion module alerts the phone via the car’s Bluetooth connection and automatically disables the phone’s texting, email and calling functions. When the car is turned off, the phone becomes fully functional again.  

And unlike most GPS-based apps, which have to wait until the vehicle reaches a speed of 10 miles per hour, proTXTion begins blocking texts, emails and calls the instant the car is started.   An anti-texting and driving app that allows your son or daughter text while driving 8 miles an hour, say, in a parking lot at the mall, is not really protecting your child.

Remember, texting and driving is more dangerous than drunk driving.  And it's a hard habit to break.
