Push To Log (mobile & bluetooth tracker) APPLICATION description

Tracks the signal strength of your network and logs the results in a map
With the PushToLog-app you can track and log the signal strength of your mobile network (4G/LTE) into a logfile while you are moving. The logfile is used to re-display the results in your map. The logged points are colored by their relative signal strength.

Other mobile networks are expected to be supported (at least 3G).

The PushToLog-app is using the GPS-data provided by Fused Location provider by Google to minimize your battery. But of course your GPS location must be activated.

Bluetooth devices can be scanned simultaneously to search for the nearest device. A warning will be shown if the strength is too high, which means that your distance to the device is too short. The distance is calculated on a theoretical basis without taking into account local conditions. The strength and device name are also logged and can be displayed on the map later. Note: the Bluetooth strength can vary greatly, so the calculated distance should be interpreted with care. The moving average option might help.

While it should be really the default mode, it still remains your choice as an option to enable the visibility of your device for other bluetooth users. You will be prompted to accept it when starting the app. You may also have the device name changed temporarily to a more app-friendly name (while logging). Your original device name will be restored when you stop the logging.

By enabling the accelerometer sensor, the PushToLog-app can log only when some movement is detected, it is called autolog. You can start it by a long click on the START button. This autolog feature is not available when the bluetooth scan is enabled. In this case, a longclick shows the list of the last bluetooth scan results.

The Push-to-Log app can create a specific KML-typed log-file as well. By long pressing the SHOW button Google Earth will be triggered to show the file. A tour is also added by which you can replay a logged or recorded track.

Another option is to have your map automatically oriented corresponding to the orientation of your device with the geomagnetic North. In case of trouble, try to calibrate your sensor (check Google Maps how to do it).

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know, have fun!
