El reggaeton es un género musical bailable que tiene sus raíces en la música de América Latina y el Caribe. Su sonido se deriva del reggae jamaicano, influenciado por el hip hop.

El reggaeton latino se originó a partir de su predecesor el reggae en español. Después de este acontecimiento el reguetón se siguió manteniendo tal y como el reggae originario de Jamaica con los mismos instrumentos y las mismas melodías de voz pero con diferentes letras.

El término “reguetón” es la forma adaptada al español a partir de la raíz del vocablo “reggaetón”, este a su vez viene de la palabra “reggae” y el sufijo “tón”. Fue acuñado por el productor panameño Michael Ellis en Puerto Rico en 1988. Según el artista Gringo el Original el término significa “reggae grande”

El reguetón ha cambiado durante el proceso de su ascenso y el original dista mucho del actual reggaeton 2015. Mientras que en un inicio se utilizaban las influencias del reggae y el dancehall, en la actualidad se toman elementos del hip hop. Por ello, los cantantes de este género están más acostumbrados a recitar las letras de las canciones que a cantarlas. Los cantantes de reguetón usaban este género para denunciar temas sociales. Sin embargo, con el pasar de los años, ese propósito pareció olvidarse puesto que muchos de los estereotipos del género priorizan temas alusivos al sexo. En los últimos años, sin embargo, se está intentando regresar a las raíces de temas sociales.

El sonido del reguetón se caracteriza por un estilo recitativo y un ritmo sincopado producido electrónicamente, acompañado por diversas melodías, que le sirven de apoyo, este ritmo tienen una sincronización característica por la cual se guían la mayoría de las canciones. El regaeton latino está influido por otros estilos que se escuchan en Jamaica.

El ritmo que caracteriza el reggaeton latino es conocido como Dem Bow.El mismo ritmo básico que se utilizaba en el dancehall se emplea en el reguetón, aunque por lo general con un toque latino.

Tito el Bambino

Tito "El Bambino", es un cantante, compositor y actor puertorriqueño. Tito El Bambino es mejor conocido gracias a la participación en el dúo Héctor & Tito junto con Héctor Delgado "El Father" desde 1996 hasta su separación en 2004, desde allí ambos continuaron sus carreras como solistas.

Farruko
